Google and Samsung team up to make sharing data between health and fitness apps easier

Today at the Google I / O Developers Conference, Google and Samsung announced a new Health Connect initiative that will facilitate the connection between health and wellness programs so that users can share their data in programs.

Nowadays, accessing and synchronizing this data is quite difficult for developers, so Health Connect will offer a variety of services and APIs to make it easier.

"Health Connect allows you to store and access health information on all devices, with the permission of users, remove all template codes, fix security issues, but also allow you to confuse that information," said Sean McBrin, developer management experience. Google for Android, I said at a conference before today’s announcement. He noted that, as with all OS Wear, Google has worked closely with Samsung on this project so that in the future Google Fit, Samsung Health, MyFitnessPal, Leap Fitness, Withings and other programs will start using this new API. This will give this service a new sync surface on your device.

Basically, Health Connect will serve as a health and wellness information center for your device. In fact, all data is on your device and is encrypted for privacy. “Users will have full control over their privacy settings with specific controls to see which programs need access to data at all times,” Google explained. This means that users can easily block access or delete data at their discretion.

Great feature: If many applications provide the same data, the user can choose which one they prefer.

The Health Connect beta is now available for Google Play developers to start building and testing their apps.
